Book – When I Loved Myself Enough

Isn’t it interesting how things happen in life?

A few years ago, I was given the book When I Loved Myself Enough. Interestingly enough, I was actually given the book by a colleague who was given the recommendation by my manager at the time (it was a secret Santa present).

During this past week, it popped in to my awareness, so I decided to pick it up and read it again. The book is written by Kim McMillan and is based on her experiences of life after living many years with self-doubt and self-criticism.

As I read the introduction, I could see why I was guided t pick it up again. Kim writes “For many years I lived with a guarded heart. I did know know how to extend love and compassion to myself. In my fortieth year that began changing….” Funny enough, that is where I am at the moment!

The majority of the pages start with – “When I loved myself enough…” and then Kim shared her learning/wisdom. I really enjoy the book for a number of reasons, however mainly the simplicity, realness and honesty appealed to me. Which reminder resonated the most for me at the moment – “When I loved myself enough, I quit fearing my fear“.

Have you read the book? If so, which statement is your favourite?

Thanks Kim for writing such a touching book and Alison for continuing her mum’s legacy!
