Brené Brown – The Price of Invulnerability

One of the things I continue to be aware of is how vulnerable I am in life. In the past, I wanted to know the outcome of something before I did it, would try and bypass many of my feelings, would avoid being honest with myself (as honesty was way too painful or so my mind thought) and think I had everything under control. Needless to say, I was deluding myself and also cutting myself off from the richness of life.

A couple of years ago, I came across the work of Dr Brené Brown and her clip The Power of Vulnerability really inspired me to look at life in a deeper way. Over the years people have believed that vulnerability relates to weakness, however Brené has a different perspective on it.

At the core, vulnerability is linked to fear, anxiety, shame and other challenging emotions we all experience in life. In this clip, Brené also links vulnerability as the birthplace of love, joy, creativity, faith and belonging.

If you have a spare 15 minutes, you may be interested in the following clip! One quote that stood out for me was “we stay so busy that the truth of our lives can’t catch up”. It also links in to one of the things I love and that is the power of being grateful.
