Are You Being Yourself?

Welcome to the first Jane’s journal on Habits for Wellbeing. This insight or learning is from two people – Dr Wayne Dyer and Abraham Maslow, however I would imagine these lessons and insights go back many years.

As you can see, my question is – are you being yourself?

For me – this question has quite a deep meaning and is something that I have spent a considerable amount of time researching to find meaning.

Why? Well, over the years, there have been many times that I have tried to be any one but me as I didn’t like the person that I was or thought I was being truthful about myself, but later found there was more to it.

In the past I thought it was so much easier trying to be someone else or that I could pretend that things didn’t happen. As I am sure you can imagine that didn’t work so well for me and I came to the realisation that it is best to be true to myself as it is so much easier and I have a purpose here – just as all of you do too!

A couple of the insights that helped me get to this space were from Abraham Maslow and Dr Wayne Dyer. They talked about self-actualised people as:

  1. being independent of the good opinion of other people;
  2. very process oriented and detached from the outcome (i.e. do not do things for the outcome, do it for the process); and
  3. having no investment in power or control over other people.

Over to You…

What do you think of these 3 things? Do they cover self-actualisation or do you think there could be more areas added? I would be interested in your comments, so please leave them below.

Until next time – keep BEing your true self in this moment!
