Change – It’s Not Always Easy, But It’s Worth It…

“You are not a victim. No matter what you have been through, you’re still here. You may have been challenged, hurt, betrayed, beaten, and discouraged, but nothing has defeated you. You are still here! You have been delayed but not denied. You are not a victim, you are a victor. You have a history of victory.” ~ Steve Maraboli

Yesterday I was going over some documents for Habits for Wellbeing with a friend of mine. We had some general business to go through first and then the conversation turned towards the documents I needed her help and expertise with.

The conversation was very straightforward – her asking me questions about my business (i.e. the products and services), me responding, her listening and clarifying, me listening, clarifying. You get the picture…  This went on for about 45 minutes or so.

On the way home in the car, I was reflecting on the conversation (as I often do). It struck me like a bolt of lightning how grateful I am for my life and the changes I have made and lead to the inspiration behind today’s post.

Change – It’s Not Always Easy, But It’s Worth It…

It’s not always easy seeing that you saw yourself as a victim in the past, to realising you now have choices and the power to change your life…

It’s not always easy to see that people treated you unkindly in the past, to realising you now have the capacity to respond differently to those people…

It’s not always easy to let go of people’s criticisms and judgements of you from the past, to realising it is not you who they are actually criticising…

It’s not always easy to break up with self-doubt and lack of self-confidence, to realising you can learn and develop trust within yourself…

It’s not always easy to let go of your beliefs of unworthiness, to realising you have needs and are here for a purpose…

It’s not always easy to move from hiding in the background and staying quiet, to realising you have a voice and your voice matters…

It’s not always easy to shift from confusion, to realising clarity is already present and waiting for you to see…

It’s not always easy to let go of competition and striving, to realising you already are enough…

It’s not always easy to accept the hurts, pain and trauma from the past, to realising it is wise to forgive and there are gifts for you to discover within those hurts…

It’s not always easy to feel alone and isolated from your family, friends and community, to realising you were already connected…

It’s not always easy to release the fear, to realising you are here to love and love can only love…

It’s not always easy to surrender and let go of the past and accept yourself wholeheartedly in the present, however it is definitely worth it…
