What is Pilates?

Pilates is a barefoot, total body movement class. It was developed over 100 years ago by Joseph Pilates (as you can see in the clip). The traditional Pilates is low-impact and focuses on flexibility, muscular strength, endurance as well as body awareness and proper alignment.

How Does Pilates on a Mat Work?

Pilates is guided by a trained teacher. Within the class, the teachers support you to explore your own movement with a variety of exercises whilst taking in to consideration your own body's intelligence.

Stott Pilates Trained Teacher...

Movement has been in Jane's blood since she was a child. She loved being outdoors and playing tennis. This adventure ended with her becoming a Professional Tennis Player. After retiring from tennis, Jane became a Health and Physical Education Teacher and has been experiencing a variety of movement modalities over that time to help her change her relationship with her body.

Jane has completed the Intensive Mat Course and also Intensive Reformer Course with Stott Pilates. Pilates is helping her develop a deeper relationship and connection with her body as well as challenging her to create greater strength and flexibility.
