Nia - Mindful Movement with Jane

Through Movement We Find Health...

What is Nia?

Nia is a barefoot, sensory-based, holistic movement class. It combines the martial arts, dance arts and healing arts to create a mindful movement experience for everyBODY at every fitness level. Nia believes every person can discover, explore, unleash, and enhance their individual potential to live a healthy and meaningful life by engaging their senses and listening to their bodies.

How Does Nia FreeDance Work?

Nia FreeDance is guided by a Certified Nia FreeDance Teacher. They support you to explore your own movement in your own way and in your own time. Dance to eclectic, soul-stirring music to evoke self-expression and unleash movement creativity. The 4 parts of Nia FreeDance explore the integration of body, emotion, mind and spirit through a unique focus for each Nia FreeDance experience.

Nia Teacher...

Jane has completed the Nia White, Green, Blue and Brown Belt trainings, the 52 Moves, MOVEit and FreeDance training. Jane is based on the Gold Coast, Qld.

“I am passionate about helping women wake up and realise they matter. I do this by supporting them to re-align with their power, embrace their gifts and transition in to doing the things they love now, so they can live a life of flow and freedom through coaching and education.

As a former professional tennis player, I had struggled for years to find movement that I really in-joyed. I did my first 2 Nia classes early in 2014 and then did my 3rd class November 2017. After that class I registered for the Nia White Belt Training. Between my second and third Nia classes, I experimented with many movement forms, but none that I felt really connected to (although I did resume playing tennis for a while).

During my mindfulness training and then later in the Nia White Belt training, I started to take notice of my body more and wake up parts of my body that had been asleep. I loved the way the teachers supported me to be my own authority and take notice to what I was sensing. This was quite different from what I experienced before. I am now continuing to embody my life and move my body in a way that feels nourishing!”
