Time to Face What Isn’t Working With Your Current Money Situation?

You know that something isn’t right, however not sure what it is. As you continue on the hamster wheel of life, however sooner or later you start to realise that avoidance is not a great coping strategy. You start to realise that in order to live a whole-hearted life and fulfil your purpose, you need to be honest enough with yourself and face what isn’t working with your money situation.

Yes, I know it can be uncomfortable, however in the end denial doesn’t work and living above the line does!

What is Living Above the Line?

As you can see in the diagram below, living above the line is about –

  • Taking ownership of your life,
  • Being accountable for it, and
  • Being responsible.

It is recognising you have the power to change you and the results in your life.

Yes, sometimes this is easier said than done (especially when you have had challenging situations occur in your past), however it is possible and is far better than living below the line. Living below the line essentially means giving your power away to other people and external situations. It is –

  • Blaming others for your situation,
  • Making excuses,
  • Living in denial, and/or
  • A sense of entitlement.

How Can You Identify If You Are Ready to Live Above the Line with Your Money?

Ask yourself –

  • Are you ready to take ownership of your money satiation? Yes, really 100% ownership!
  • Are you ready to do your best and make yourself accountable for your money situation?
  • Are you going to hold yourself responsible for your money? Yes, again 100% responsibility! However, you also have an inner circle you work with.

One of the most challenging parts of living above the line is acknowledging when things don’t go the way you had hoped, that is also your responsibility, which then provides a great opportunity for growth!

Where Are You Now In Relation to Your Money?

The following statements, can help you to develop some insight in to where you currently are in relation to your money. As the saying goes, the truth will set you free and on to your path of financial knowledge and freedom. If we don’t commit to telling the truth you can live in denial. A great acronym for Denial is –

“DENIAL – Don’t, Even, Notice, I, Am, Lying” ~ Unknown.

Telling the truth also brings with it tremendous power and clarity. With clarity and power (and your courage and self-compassion), change starts to happen and you are empowered to start making different choices. If you are committed to developing insight, read over the following 10 statements and answer them with a yes, no or N/A (not applicable).
