Today as I was cleaning up and clearing the clutter out of my home, I came across a mental health kit. This kit was given to staff members at a school I was working with as part of their school mental health and wellbeing plan to remind the school staff to look after themselves and their wellbeing.
Each part of the mental health kit had a special significance and they are as follows –
- Cellophane – to help see things in a different light and as they are (not as we want them to be or by trying to fix things)
- Sponge – to wipe away those mistakes (not that there are any real mistakes per se – just learning experiences)
- Tea (or coffee) – for when you need a break
- Paper clip – to remember flexibility in situations
- Rubberband – to help stretch beyond your comfort zone
- Lollipop (or treat) – to show someone cares.
Reflection –
- What do you think of this idea?
- Could you see yourself using it? If so, where?
- Who could you share this idea with to help implement it?
