What Chapter of Your Life Story Are You Going to Write Next?

Well it is not long until the New Year and wow what an adventure this year has been! As you look back and reflect on the year, I imagine there would have been a plot twist or two.

However, with each twist and turn, there are choices. And with those choices come decisions. Decisions you get to make about your life story. Yes, you get to decide what story you are going to write for your life.

So, as we move towards the New Year, you may like to reflect on what chapter of your life story you are going to write next. You may even life to make some tweaks to your life. I know I am going to continue to untangle from some stories I am telling myself.

What Do I Mean By “The Story I Am Telling Myself”?

What I mean is each moment I could be telling myself a story in relation to any number of aspects of my career, business or life, including my –

  • body and what shape it is in,
  • money and financial assets,
  • career and the work I do,
  • relationships (friends, family etc.) and how they are going,
  • the environment I live in and what is happening around me, or
  • other situations, experiences or areas in my life experience.

Subsequently, the stories (made up of thoughts, feelings and body sensations) that I tell myself (whether conscious or unconscious), then have an impact on how I am feeling and my current life experience, happiness and wellbeing.

Change Your Thoughts to Change Your Story

Dr Wayne Dyer said it so well “Change the way you see things, and the things you see will change.”

If you don’t like the current story of your life, you can change your thoughts and by changing your thoughts you can change the story and life. As you start to change your life, you receive feedback through your senses and feelings to know if you are on track and allowing life to be as it is.

When you start noticing your thoughts, you realise some thoughts feel better than others. Then you can start to see that thoughts are just thoughts and they are not who you really are.

As Victor Frankl indicated ~ “Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom.”

Untangling the Resistance!

If you want to change your story and your life from what you are currently experiencing, you can start untangling the story you are telling yourself or resistance to the present moment. As you start untangling the resistance to the present moment by being aware of your language, thoughts, feelings and actions, life starts to flow.

As you do this remember –

  • it is your responsibility to do the work (no-one else can do it for you),
  • to focus on the learnings or gifts you receive and the gratitude that surrounds you, and
  • you have the power to give yourself permission to create the vision for your life you would like.
