‘Sveta with the big hair direct from Russia – well almost!?’

Sveta‘Sveta’ is the creation of Lana Jankowiak, whose journey of self-discovery as she learned about her heritage was the inspiration for her character. Lana’s Russian mother and Ukrainian father, who met in a war camp, migrated to Australia from Germany in 1947. With Russian music, singing and dancing playing such a regular role in her life growing up in the western suburbs of Adelaide, amateur theatre and performance have become life-long passions for Lana. Although her professional journey took Lana into the field of welfare and education, in her personal life, she dreamed of writing and performing her own show….but as she grew older she pondered about fulfilling this dream before she had to move to a nursing home!? BUT she did it! Sveta has her own cabaret show “The Sickle of Life” – it tells the story of coming to Australia in search of love, and has been invited to MC various Conferences and Events, including weddings! “Sveta is to Russia what Dame Edna is to Mooney Ponds.“

Kristy Zenk – Author

BioPicSlimbirdy“Weight loss is not about willpower, discipline, hard work, suffering with rigorous exercise or hunger,” so says Kristy Zenk, author of new weight loss e-book Lite as a Feather.

A funny, entertaining tale of crazy out of control eating, a-ha! moments where insights are uncovered and finally the discovery of a happy place with her body, eating and her weight.

While she is not a dietician or doctor, sometimes it’s the real life stories and struggles of others that teach more than textbook theory. Her aim is just to help others find their own happy place with regard to their body and weight through funny stories and real life examples.

Her Ebook will be available soon to download on www.facebook.com/slimbirdy – $14.95 AUD

Kristell Cummins – Lorna Jane Coolangatta

KristellKristell is the 2IC at Lorna Jane Coolangatta and has been a big supporter of the ‘For the Love of Women’ event right from our first conversation (which I am extremely grateful for). As you will see, Lorna Jane Coolangatta have generously donated the participant bags for the event.

Kristell will talk about Lorna Jane’s philosophy as well as her journey around health and wellbeing. As you can see by her photo (which was taken one afternoon when I popped in to the store, so no photoshopping), Kristell is glowing, so she is doing something right!

Tracy Barrell OAM

In Tracy’s Word – “During my non-competition days, I got married, divorced and had my babies. I was selected as one of the Tracy BarrellAustralia Day Ambassador twice and made speeches in the regional areas of N.S.W.

I have also been playing Sitting Volleyball and we represented Australia at the Shanghai Women’s Sitting Volleyball Tournament. At these games it was a chance to qualify for the Beijing Paralympics 2008. But we missed out.

I was also selected as one of the 100 faces of the Sutherland Shire to commemorate 100yrs of the Shire.

And was selected in 2008; to be the face of the Don’t Dis My Ability campaign.

My latest triumph has been the battle of thyroid problems, resulting in a full thyroid ectamy in May 2010. The results came back showing cancerous tendencies but have had a full recovery.

I was working at Sutherland Shire Council, but had to resign due to injury in my wrist resulting with surgery.

Now days I’m a full time single mum and while the kids are in school I’m spending my time writing my Autobiography and hope one day I get it published.

I am honoured and humbled to be chosen again to be an Ambassador this year, and hope to help make a difference in raising awareness.”

Some of her achievements include –

Started disabled sports in 1989; my first event was the N.S.W State Games held at the Narrabeen Sports Centre.

And received the athlete of the meet trophy. After that I joined a swimming club and had professional coaching, winning more golds and trophies.

All this lead to the Barcelona Paralympics in 1992. Where I won –

      • Gold 4x50m Women’s Freestyle Relay
      • Gold 50m Butterfly beating the world and paralympic record by 13 seconds.
      • 4th in the finals 50m Freestyle
      • 4th in the finals 50m Breaststroke

After doing so well at these games, I received many awards.

      • MLC Foundation, and
      • many more..

My most prestigious award was the Order of Australia Medal. I received this in 1993, for my outstanding contribution to sport.

My last swimming competition was the World Championships in Malta 1994, the result was Bronze 50m Butterfly.

I retired after these games due to injury and surgery to my only arm.
