3 of the Best Books on Self-Acceptance

Looking for some inspiration on self-acceptance? Or want to be reminded about what you already know deep within? Either way, the following three books on self-acceptance all bring something unique to the table and will support you on your adventure of self-acceptance.

3 of the Best Books on Self-Acceptance

Book 1 – The Gifts of Imperfection: Let Go of Who You Think You’re Supposed to Be and Embrace Who You Are by Brené Brown.

This was the first book of Brené’s that I read and I really enjoyed it. She is a leading researcher on shame and this book really helps with understanding it and increasing self-acceptance. Also, if you like this book, you will also love her more recent books Braving the Wilderness and Rising Strong.

Book 2 – Radical Acceptance: Awakening the Love that Heals Fear and Shame by Tara Brach

I came across this book during my mindfulness training. It is based on Buddhist teachings and how those teachings can transform fear and shame. The book includes stories, guided reflections and meditations. Even though I am not Buddhist, I have found the book useful in helping to understand that radical acceptance has two wings – mindfulness and self-compassion and one cannot exist without the other.

Book 3 – Health At Every Size: The Surprising Truth About Your Weight by Linda Bacon PhD.

I came across this book during my training as an Advanced Health and Nutrition Coach. There are many different opinions and ideas about the HAES movement floating around, however if you read the book, you start to understand the message. It is about making peace with food and your body, not giving up on it. You may also like Body Respect as well.

I hope you have found these 3 book suggestions on self-acceptance useful! If you choose to read them, feel free to let me know how you found them below in the comments section.
