How are you celebrating the first International Day of Happiness?

Today, March 20, 2013 is the first International Day of Happiness. Back on June 28, 2012 the United Nations General Assembly designated this day and you can read more about the day on the United Nations website here as well as the decision here.

“On this first International Day of Happiness, let us reinforce our commitment to inclusive and sustainable human development and renew our pledge to help others. When we contribute to the common good, we ourselves are enriched. Compassion promotes happiness and will help build the future we want.”

Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon
Message for the International Day of Happiness, 20 March 2013

How are you going to celebrate the first International Day of Happiness?

There are so many ways we can celebrate this day (and life in general), including 6 Tips for Wellbeing, however another way you may like to celebrate is have a look at the movie called Happy. A few years ago, I was fortunate enough to see the movie and hear the Director Roko Belic speak at the Happiness and its Causes conference in Brisbane.

The documentary takes you on a journey across 5 continents and explores many issues we face in our society today. The issues are explored through science as well human stories.  Here is the trailer from the documentary and you can view more on the official site for the documentary by clicking here.

I hope you have a great day however you choose to do to celebrate the first International Day of Happiness and you continue to nurture your well-being.
